Refreshments and Sales at Events
Members are warmly invited to take part in fundraising by helping to sell home-made cakes and other refreshments at popular Bristol events, such as the Harbour Festival.
Members’ subscriptions are at the heart of everything we do. Every membership helps fund the exciting new acquisitions, the conservation and display of treasured collections, inspiring exhibitions, and educational programmes that bring Bristol’s museums to life for visitors of all ages.
As local authority funding has declined in recent years, the support of our members has become more vital than ever. Together with the Bristol Museums Development Trust—a separate charity established in 2008—your contributions provide the essential seed funding needed to unlock major national grants for acquisitions that the local authority can no longer afford to support. In doing so, you play a direct role in protecting, enriching, and sharing Bristol’s remarkable heritage for generations to come.
Once you become a member, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy a varied programme of events organised by fellow members. Explore museums, galleries and heritage sites through exclusive visits, attend engaging lectures and gallery tours, and gain unique behind-the-scenes access with guided visits to fascinating local places of interest.

In the last four years our annual income has averaged £139k, thanks to membership subscriptions, trips and visits, sales at events, and some very generous bequests. We are most grateful to those who support our work by remembering us in their will.
